History

Nijikken Station opened on 1 August 1926 as a station of the Kakamigahara Railway. It became a station of the Meigi Railway through a merger on 28 March 1935, and passed to the Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu) when the company changed its name on 1 August of the same year. It became unstaffed sometime before 1 November 1948. The shared stored-fare card system "TRANPASS" was introduced on 14 March 2007, the IC card "manaca" entered service on 11 February 2011, and TRANPASS service ended on 29 February 2012.

Notes

The station's name is said to derive from there once having been only twenty (nijikken) houses in the vicinity, in the same way as Rokken Station, likewise on the Kakamigahara Line, whose name reflects the six (rokken) houses near it.
