History

The station opened on 1 August 1926 on the Kakamigahara Railway as Nirentai-mae Station. A merger on 28 March 1935 brought it under Meigi Railway, which was itself renamed Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu) on 1 August that year. On 1 December 1938 it was renamed Meiden-Kakamigahara, and on 23 July 1942 the station was moved west to enable double-tracking. It became unstaffed on 16 July 1952, was placed under a delegated business arrangement on 1 December 1959, and its current building was completed in 1979. A centralised station-management system was introduced and the station was destaffed again on 1 March 2007, with manaca IC-card service following on 11 February 2011.

Notes

The station's reading was changed administratively on 1 October 1965 from 'Meiden-Kagamihara' to 'Meiden-Kakamigahara', although the kanji written form stayed identical.
