History

Nakatsuchi Station opened on 29 November 1935 on the Ōito Line, in the town of Otari, Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture. The station consists of a single ground-level side platform serving one bidirectional track, and it is unattended. It lies 4.0 km from the intermediate terminus of the line at Minami-Otari and 74.1 km from the terminus at Matsumoto. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.
