History

Naguwa Station opened on 1 November 1960 as a station on the Japanese National Railways Gannichi Line, and was an unstaffed, diesel-railcar-only station from opening. It passed to JR West at the 1 April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways, and was transferred to the Nishikigawa Railway on 25 July of the same year. It is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track, located in Naguwa, Mikawa-chō, Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture; it has no station building, only a roofed waiting shelter on the platform, and is unstaffed. National Route 187 runs along the opposite bank of the Nishiki River, which flows immediately in front of the station, and can be reached by way of Naguwa Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge near the station.

Notes

The Nishiki River flowing in front of the station is home to a nationally designated natural monument habitat of the kajika frog (Buergeria buergeri), which can be observed close to the station.
