History
Nagi Station is a station at Aza Nakagawara, Ōse, Chizu-chō, Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture, that opened on 1 July 1932, when the Ministry of Railways' Inbi Line was extended between Chizu Station and Mimasaka-Kawai Station. At the time of opening its address was given as Nagi-mura, Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture, but Nagi-mura was incorporated into Chizu-chō on 20 February 1935. Freight handling ended on 1 September 1962, and parcel handling ended on 1 October 1970, on which same day the station became unstaffed; a simplified staffing contract with the local agricultural cooperative began on the 15th of that month. It became a station of JR West at the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and CTC signaling was introduced on 2 October 1999, abolishing the tablet block system. It reverted from a directly staffed station to an unstaffed one again on 12 March 2000. With the establishment of the Chūgoku Regional Headquarters on 1 October 2022, operations and business duties were transferred to the Tottori Railway Division.
Notes
It is known as a station in a particularly heavy-snowfall area even by the standards of the Inbi Line, and since March 2008 the "Nagi Clinic" has been housed within the station building, holding consultations twice a month.
