Location
History
Kyōtango-Ōmiya Station opened on 3 November 1925 as Kuchi-Ōno Station, with the Ministry of Railways' extension between Tango-Yamada (now Yosano) and Mineyama stations. It was renamed Tango-Ōmiya on 25 May 1963 following a merger of its location. Freight handling ended in 1970 and parcel handling in 1984, and it became unstaffed in 1985. It passed to JR West with the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, but became a station of the Kita Kinki Tango Railway when the Miyazu Line was transferred to that company on 1 April 1990, and around this time the station building was remodeled in a Heian-court style. It was transferred to WILLER TRAINS on 1 April 2015, becoming a station on the Kyoto Tango Railway's Miyatoyo Line and being renamed to its current name, Kyōtango-Ōmiya, at the same time. Its station number is T18, and it is a ground-level station with opposed side platforms serving two tracks, allowing trains to pass each other.
Notes
The nickname for this station, decided by public submission in 2014 by Kyōtango City's Station Nickname Selection Committee, is "Komachi no Sato Station."
