History

Koshinokata Station is a station on the Man'yō Line in Horioka-Shinmyōjin, Imizu, Toyama Prefecture, and is the line's northern terminus. The station name derives from "Koshi no Umi," an old name for Hōjōzu Lagoon. It opened on 12 October 1930 with the completion of the Etchū Railway's Horioka–Koshinokata section, and the Koshinokata–Nishi-Koshinokata section opened on 23 December of the same year. It became a station on Toyama Chihō Railway's Imizu Line through the 1943 merger on 1 January, and became a terminus on 5 April 1966 when the Koshinokata–Horioka section was abolished for the excavation of Toyama Shinkō (New Toyama Port) and the line was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway. It became a Man'yō Line station through a management transfer on 1 April 2002, and in September 2006 the removal of the northern track left it with a single platform serving one track.

Notes

Because the Imizu Line was severed by the excavation of Toyama Shinkō, the station is still connected to Horioka (Shinkō-Higashiguchi) on the opposite shore by a Toyama prefectural ferry, reachable on foot from the station to the ferry landing.
