History

Kaiōmaru Station is a station on the Man'yō Line in Koshinokata-machi, Imizu, Toyama Prefecture. It opened as the Etchū Railway's "Koshinokataguchi Station" on 9 November 1932, at that time located several tens of metres east of its present site. On 1 January 1943 the Etchū Railway merged into Toyama Chihō Railway and the station became part of the Imizu Line. Following the split of the Imizu Line on 5 April 1966, the business was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway and the station became part of the Shinminato Port Line. It was relocated to its present site on 1 April 1990 and renamed Kaiōmaru Station after the moored sailing ship Kaiō Maru. On 1 April 2002 it became a Man'yō Line station through a business transfer.

Notes

The station's name was changed at the time of its 1990 relocation, after the sailing ship Kaiō Maru moored at the nearby Kaiō Maru Park; before that it was called "Koshinokataguchi Station."
