History
Kōen-Shimo Station opened on 1 December 1921 with the inauguration of the Hakone Tozan Cable Car Line, taking its name from its position just below Gōra Park. Wartime restrictions designated the cable car as a non-essential line, and the station was suspended from 11 February 1944 to 1 July 1950. Operation passed to Odakyu Hakone on 1 April 2024 as part of an Odakyu Group restructure. The unstaffed station has opposed side platforms either side of a single track; passengers cross underneath the line through a road underpass nearby.
Notes
Posted altitude was corrected from 587 m to 574 m after the 2013 Hakone Tozan resurvey.
