History

Kitayama Station is a tram stop on the Tosaden Kotsu Ino Line in Ino, Agawa District, Kōchi Prefecture. It was created on 1 November 1960 by merging two older stops, Kitayamaguchi and Shiozaki, which had both opened on 7 November 1907 when the Ino Line's Edagawa-Ino section was completed under the Tosa Electric Railway. Kitayamaguchi had earlier been suspended from 1943 to 1952 before its eventual merger. The station became part of Tosaden Kotsu when Tosa Electric Railway merged with two other operators on 1 October 2014. Two offset platforms flank a single track today, with only the Harimayabashi-bound side having a proper platform; the Ino-bound side is marked only by a roadside safety zone.

Notes

Although the two 1907-opened stops that were merged to form Kitayama in 1960 became a single stop, they had never shared a kilopost: Kitayamaguchi sat 10.3 km from the Harimayabashi terminus and Shiozaki sat 10.4 km.
