History

Kitauchi tram stop opened on 10 January 2007 on the Ino Line, built by Tosa Electric Railway — the predecessor of today's Tosaden Kōtsū — at the request of Ino Town after the "Sunny Axis Ino" shopping complex was announced for the town's Kitauchi district. It was the first new tram stop to open in Ino Town since Kitayama in 1960, and Tosa Electric Railway's first new stop anywhere since Kōchibashi in 2000. The shopping complex itself opened on 25 February 2007. After Tosa Electric Railway merged with Kōchiken Kōtsū and Tosaden Dream Service on 1 October 2014, the stop became part of the new Tosaden Kōtsū network. The two platforms serving the single track sit at a slight diagonal across the line, with covered shelters and a roofed walkway built by Ino Town linking the stop to the shopping centre.

Notes

Built at the town's request, Kitauchi was the first new tram stop to open in Ino Town in 47 years when it opened in 2007, ending a pause that stretched back to Kitayama tram stop in 1960.
