History

Kita-Komatsu Station opened on 20 July 1974 together with the Kosei Line under Japanese National Railways, and was unstaffed and passengers-only from the outset. It passed to JR West with privatisation on 1 April 1987, and ICOCA was accepted from 21 October 2006. Rapid services began calling at the station with the 12 March 2011 timetable revision, and station numbering JR-B18 was introduced on 17 March 2018. The ticket window was closed on 31 July 2025, returning the station to fully unstaffed operation the following day.

Notes

Two opposed elevated side platforms sit above the station building. The Kōjaku Railway once ran a short distance east of the station, and a bypass of National Route 161 is being built along its former trackbed.
