History

Kintetsu Hatta Station opened on 26 June 1938 as Kankyū Hatta Station, when Kansai Express Electric Railway completed its line between Kuwana and Kankyū-Nagoya. It was renamed Sankyū Hatta Station in 1940, Kankyū Hatta Station again in 1941, and Kinki Nippon Hatta Station when Kintetsu was formed in 1944, before taking its present name on 1 March 1970. The downbound track was elevated on 31 August 2002 and the station moved about 200 m toward Kintetsu Nagoya; the upbound track was elevated on 21 May 2005 and integrated into the new station building. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007. It is an elevated station with two island platforms serving four tracks, allowing trains to be overtaken, and is a staffed station managed by Kintetsu Nagoya Station.
