History
Kenritsu-Taiikukan-mae opened on 20 January 1983 as a Kumamoto City Transportation Bureau stop on the Kami-Kumamoto Line, numbered B2. Platform-extension and shelter work to prepare for new rolling stock was carried out between January and March 2024.
Notes
Although the stop is named after the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium, the gymnasium itself is about 200 m east. The stop's two platforms, which serve opposite directions and stand apart from one another, are reached by crossing an unsignalized pedestrian crossing.
