Location

History

Keiō-Horinouchi Station opened on 21 May 1988 when the Keiō Sagamihara Line was extended to Minami-Ōsawa, sited at the Bessho–Horinouchi "district centre" of Tama New Town in Hachiōji, Tokyo. The two-side-platform elevated station, numbered KO42, was designed with a generous footprint anticipating future population growth in the surrounding development. Rapid trains began calling here from 28 May 1992. The station office and ticket gates were relocated as part of internal remodelling work on 3 August 2013. The Keiō name prefix was added because Keikyū already had a station called Horinouchi.

Notes

Excavations during station construction unearthed human bones initially feared to indicate a crime; they were later identified as Jōmon-Yayoi remains, alongside ancient pottery and stone tools.
