Location

History

Kawana Station opened on 18 March 1977 as a station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Tsurumai Line. It is located at 8-chōme, Hirojidōri, Shōwa-ku, Nagoya, and carries station number T13. Before opening it was provisionally named "Yamanaka Station," but local residents objected that the name had "no historical basis" and petitioned the city council for a change, and it ultimately opened as Kawana Station. Accessibility work was completed in 2008, connecting ground level to each platform by elevator. Platform doors are scheduled to begin operating on 6 October 2025. The station is administered by the Tsurumai Line station office's Yagoto district station.
