History

Kataharamachi Station is a tram stop on the Man'yōsen Takaoka Kidō Line in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. It opened on 10 April 1948, when Toyama Chihō Railway's line between Jitetsu-Takaoka (now Takaoka Station) and Fushiki-kō opened. Operation passed to Kaetsunō Railway on 1 April 1959 and to Man'yōsen on 1 April 2002, both by business transfer. Since 1 November 2005 the stop has carried the official sub-name Yamachōsuji Entrance, reflecting its position as the closest stop to Yamachōsuji, an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. It is a ground-level stop with two side platforms marked only by painted lines, no shelter, and passing track that lets trams travelling in opposite directions cross.

Notes

Each year on 1 May, tram service between Takaoka Station and Kataharamachi is suspended for the Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival, and trains instead turn back at Kataharamachi toward Koshi-no-kata.
