History

Kankanzaka Station is a Kumamoto Electric Railway Kikuchi Line station that opened on 1 December 1955. Its station number is KD02. It became compatible with the "Kumamoto Regional Development IC Card (Kumamon's IC CARD)" on 1 April 2015, and station numbering was introduced on 1 October 2019. It is a ground-level station with one side platform serving one track; it is unstaffed and has no station building, only a roof for rain shelter. An IC card reader (entry only) is installed on the platform.

Notes

Because the platform is only long enough for a single car and there are level crossings on both sides of the station, trains bound for Kita-Kumamoto block the crossings while stopped there.
