History

Kamimaezu Station opened on 30 March 1967 as a station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijō Line. The Tsurumai Line station opened on 18 March 1977, making it a transfer point between the Meijō and Tsurumai lines. Platform doors began operating on the Meijō Line on 26 July 2020, and renovation work began on 20 June 2022. The stationmaster's office moved from the Tsurumai Line concourse to the Meijō Line concourse on 15 November 2023, and platform doors began operating on the Tsurumai Line as well on 9 June 2025. The station also serves as the district station of the Tsurumai Line station office's Kamimaezu district.

Notes

The Meijō Line and Tsurumai Line platforms are relatively far apart; a passenger transferring between the two lines using only elevators must first go up to the south ticket gate, then down to the platform toward Sakae, and reach the Tsurumai Line platforms via a connecting passage.
