History
Kajiyashiki Station opened as a general station on 16 December 1912, with the extension of the Japanese Government Railways Shin'etsu Line between Nadachi and Itoigawa. Under the line-name revision of 1 April 1913 the following year, this section was incorporated into the Hokuriku Main Line and the station was reassigned to it. Freight handling ended in 1969 and the station became unstaffed in 1970. It passed to JR West at the division and privatization of JNR in 1987, but was transferred to Echigo Tokimeki Railway with the 14 March 2015 extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Nagano and Kanazawa, and is now a station on that company's Nihonkai Hisui Line. An AC/DC transition section lies between this station and neighboring Echigo-Oshiage-Hisui-Kaigan Station.
Notes
An AC/DC transition section lies between this station and neighboring Echigo-Oshiage-Hisui-Kaigan Station, marking the boundary between 20,000 V 60 Hz AC on the Itoigawa side and 1,500 V DC on the Naoetsu side.
