Location

History

Iwami Station opened on 21 March 1923 when the Osaka Electric Tramway extended its Unebi Line from Hirahata to Kashiharajingū-mae. The Osaka Electric Tramway merged with the Sangū Express Railway in 1941 to form Kansai Express Railway, and the 1944 consolidation with the Nankai Railway created Kintetsu, placing the station on the Kashihara Line. Today it sits 13.9 kilometres from the line's starting point; the unstaffed at-grade station retains two opposing side platforms with capacity for four-car sets, connected by a level crossing on the premises.

Notes

Iwami Station, written 石見, stands in the town of Miyake, Shiki District, Nara Prefecture. Slopes lead up to each of its two platforms, and while the station has no car park, bicycle parking is available. The Sasahokoyama Kofun and the Nara Prefectural Technical College lie nearby, and in fiscal 2019 an average of 1,097 passengers boarded here each day.
