Location

History

Itamochi Station, on JR West's Mine Line, is located in aza Tateno, Fukawa-yumoto, Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It was newly established on 25 July 1958 as an unstaffed halt handling only diesel-railcar passengers, between Nagato-Yumoto Station and Shōmyōichi Station (now Nagatoshi Station) on the then Mine Line. It was the last station on the Mine Line to open. It passed to JR West at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways in 1987. In the heavy rain of July 2010, flooding of the Asa River washed away a bridge and the roadbed, suspending operations, and service resumed in September 2011. It was damaged again by heavy rain in July 2023, which closed the entire line, and substitute buses have run since the 4th of that month. It is a halt with a single side platform serving one track, on the left-hand side facing toward Nagatoshi, and is an unstaffed station managed by the Nagato Railway Division.

Notes

Itamochi Station is the last of the stations on the Mine Line to have opened.
