History
Itakura Tōyōdai-mae Station opened on 25 March 1997 as a request station, the newest stop on the Tōbu Nikkō Line. Until it was built the line had run through Gunma Prefecture without serving any station there, and the new stop was provided beside the Itakura campus of Toyo University and the Itakura New Town development. From its opening it was a stop on the operator's rapid trains linking Asakusa with Tōbu-Nikkō and Kinugawa-Onsen, and from 16 March 2013 the early-morning down Kegon 1 limited express began calling, making it a limited-express stop. Station numbering TN 07 was introduced on 17 March 2012; in the timetable revision of 21 April 2017 the rapid and section-rapid services were abolished altogether, while Kegon 1 was retimed and became Liberty Kegon 1.
Notes
Both adjoining stops are in different prefectures (Saitama and Tochigi), making Itakura Tōyōdai-mae the centre of a three-station run on the Nikkō Line in which every consecutive stop lies in a different prefecture.
