Location

History

Inokuchi Station opened on 6 April 1924, originally written 井ノ口, as one of four intermediate stops added when Hiroden's Miyajima Line was extended. It was renamed to its current form, Inokuchi (井口), sometime after 1965. The station has two ground-level platforms serving two tracks, staggered diagonally across a level crossing, a configuration dating from a 1982 relocation meant to stop passengers forcing a way through the crossing to reach the platform. A remnant high platform once used by interurban rolling stock survives on the inbound, Hiroshima-bound platform, while the outbound platform toward Miyajima-guchi was extended and fitted with a ramp and handrails in 2011. Today the station serves Hiroden streetcars between Hiroshima and Miyajima-guchi in a residential part of Nishi-ku.

Notes

South of the station, inside a park built on land reclaimed from the sea after the 1970s, a small islet known as Kogoi Myōjin that once stood in the coastal waters before the reclamation has been left in place, untouched by the landfill around it.
