History

Iigura Station opened on 1 October 1964 as a passenger stop on Japanese National Railways' Sōbu Main Line in what is now Sōsa, Chiba Prefecture, 90.6 rail km from Tokyo Station, the western terminus of the line. With the dissolution of JNR on 1 April 1987 it transferred to East Japan Railway Company. A new station building was completed in December 2000, replacing the original facility. The station has a single side platform serving bidirectional traffic; the platform is short and can accommodate trains of no more than eight cars in length. It is unstaffed.
