History

Hizen-Iida Station opened on 16 April 1934 as an intermediate stop on the new Nagasaki Main Line coastal extension built southwards by Japanese Government Railways, originally branded the Ariake Line. The entire route from Hizen-Yamaguchi through the station to Nagasaki was completed on 1 December 1934 and redesignated as the Nagasaki Main Line. The station has been unstaffed since 1 April 1972, when parcel handling ceased. Following the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, control passed to JR Kyushu. On 23 September 2022 the section from Hizen-Hama to Nagasaki — including this station — was de-electrified.
