History
Higo-Nishinomura Station opened on the Ministry of Railways' Yunomae Line on 30 March 1924. It was inherited by Japanese National Railways in 1949; freight handling ended in 1962, and it became unstaffed when baggage handling ended in 1971. After being placed under contracted operation in 1963, it became a JR Kyushu station at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and was transferred to the Kuma River Railway Yunomae Line on 1 October 1989. The station building was rebuilt in October 1997. The Yunomae Line was damaged and suspended by the torrential rains of July 2020, but when service resumed on 28 November 2021 for the section from this station to Yunomae Station, a temporary turnback facility was set up within the station premises. It is an unstaffed station with one side platform serving one track, with a long platform able to accommodate six or more cars.
Notes
The walls inside and outside the platform are decorated with tiles shaped like fruit and other motifs.
