Higashi-Tarumi Station opened on 12 April 1917. The unstaffed station stands on the Sanyo Electric Railway Main Line, 8.6 kilometres from the line's terminus at Nishidai, in the Tarumi ward of Kobe, and is built around two opposed side platforms linked by an elevated station building above the tracks.
