History

Higashi Takasaki Station was opened by Japanese National Railways on 1 December 1963 as an additional stop on the existing Kitto Line in Miyakonojō, Miyazaki Prefecture. A toilet was installed at the station in January 1969. The station passed to JR Kyushu on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of JNR. It is an unstaffed halt with a single side platform serving one track and no station building — only a waiting shelter and a toilet on the platform — and in fiscal 2016 it averaged 17 boarding passengers per day.

Notes

The station name is read Takasaki, while the name of the surrounding town, Takazaki-chō, is read with a voiced consonant.
