Location

History

Higashi-Hazu Station opened on 24 July 1936 on what is now Meitetsu's Gamagōri Line. The station was staffed from some point on or after 1 September 1953 until 1 June 1998, after which it became unstaffed. Until 28 January 2005 limited-express and express trains called here. On 10 October 2021 the city of Nishio held a farewell event for the station building ahead of its demolition, and a small waiting shelter was built on the site, opening on 23 March 2024. The platform was lengthened from two-car to four-car capacity in construction and improvement work in the second half of fiscal 1967.

Notes

When the Gamagōri Line still drew tourists, Higashi-Hazu was the gateway to Saru-ga-shima and Usagi-jima; sightseeing boats ran from nearby Higashi-Hazu Port until they were discontinued on 30 November 1997.
