History

Hatada Station opened on 21 December 1926 as a station of the Kotohira Electric Railway. It became a station of the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad's Kotohira Line through a company merger on 1 November 1943, and remains so today. It formerly had a two-side-platform configuration allowing train exchange, but it is now a single-track configuration, with the disused platform left in place. It is unstaffed with no station building, equipped with an automatic ticket machine and an IruCa simplified ticket gate. There is an entrance to a ramp leading to the rear of the station, and, as a remnant of the two-side-platform era, an entrance to a stairway ramp at the Sue-side end of the platform, which is still used for access to and from the path leading to the disused platform. Its station number is K12.

Notes

Near the station, the former Kotoden Hatada substation, taken out of service in 1980, still stands; the camouflage paint applied during the war can still be seen on the building today, making it a rare surviving example of wartime railway facility infrastructure.
