History

Furuichi Station is on the Fukuchiyama Line (JR Takarazuka Line) in Tamba-Sasayama, Hyōgo Prefecture, 53.5 km from Amagasaki. It opened on 25 March 1899 with the extension of the Hankaku Railway between Sanda and Sasayama (now Sasayamaguchi). Nationalized in 1907 and folded into the Fukuchiyama Line in 1912, it became an unstaffed station in 1984 and received a new building in 1986. JR West took it over in the 1987 privatization, ICOCA was introduced in 2003, and station number JR-G67 was assigned in March 2018.
