History
Dōjōji Station opened on 14 December 1930 as a station on the Japanese National Railways Kisei West Line. Freight handling began on 11 November 1932. It came under the Kisei Main Line when that line was completed through on 15 July 1959. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1971 and parcel handling on 1 April 1978. It became unstaffed on 14 March 1985. It became a JR West station at the 1 April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways. The ICOCA IC card became usable on 14 March 2020. It is the nearest station to Dōjō-ji temple, but the temple itself stands in neighboring Hidakagawa town, about a five-minute walk away.
Notes
For the bell memorial ceremony held every year on 27 April at Dōjō-ji temple, even after the station became unstaffed, staff used to be dispatched from Gobō Station to handle ticket collection and issuing.
