Location

History

Daniyama-machi opened on 20 June 1929 as a Kumamoto City tram stop, was relocated on 24 March 1935, and went through platform-extension and shelter work between January and March 2024 to accommodate new rolling stock. It is numbered B5 on the Kami-Kumamoto Line.

Notes

The "Daniyama" in the stop's name refers to a low plateau that stretched from Fujisaki-dai in the east to Shimazaki in the west until the early Meiji era, when it was cut through to make room for the Kyūshū Railway, the Kumamoto Light Railway and eventually the Kami-Kumamoto tram line. The area is flat ground today.
