History
Chūō-Hirosaki Station opened on 26 January 1952 as a station of the Hirosaki Electric Railway in central Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. Its line was transferred to the Kōnan Railway on 1 October 1970, and the station is the northern terminus of the Kōnan Railway Ōwani Line. Station duties were contracted out from 1 April 1986, and train-operation duties from 1 April 1997 — a model that today is run by a group of retired Kōnan Railway employees. A new station-front plaza opened for public use on 28 March 2022.
Notes
Chūō-Hirosaki was chosen for Tōhoku's "100 Best Stations" in 2002 as "a station kind to summer travellers, near the cherry-blossom landmark of Hirosaki Park and cooled by river breezes from the adjacent Tsuchibuchi River."
