History
Chikuzen-Habu Station traces its origin to Sokoino Signal Station, established on 20 December 1893. On 26 April 1935 the Ministry of Railways upgraded this signal station to a full station, opening Chikuzen-Habu Station. It was relocated 300 m toward Chikuzen-Ueki on 20 January 1951. The station became a contracted-staff station on 1 February 1984, and passed to JR Kyushu at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station building was rebuilt that April; automatic ticket gates entered use on 19 December 2000, and the "SUGOCA" IC card became usable on 1 March 2009. The station was unstaffed on 1 July 2014, and the automatic ticket gates were removed the same day.
Notes
The station building, owned by Nakama City, is a wooden structure built in the style of an azumaya (garden pavilion), and paving stones once used on the Nishitetsu Tobata Line are laid between the building and the platform.
