History
Atagobashi Station opened on 15 July 1987 as part of the inaugural section of the Sendai Subway Namboku Line, beneath Wakabayashi-ku, Sendai. The location had earlier hosted a Sendai City Tram stop of the same name, opened on 12 February 1933 when the Nagamachi tram line was extended to Atagobashi; the tram stop closed on 1 April 1976 with the rest of the tram network. The subway station is numbered N12, has a single island platform underground, and sits on the left bank of the Hirose River. Platform-edge doors began operating on 21 November 2009, and icsca IC card service started on 6 December 2014.
Notes
Before the subway arrived, the same spot served a Sendai City Tram stop of the identical name, from its opening in 1933 until the tram network closed in 1976.
