Location

History

Annai Station opened on 1 July 2002 as a station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway's Gomen–Nahari Line. It is located in Annai, Aki City, Kōchi Prefecture; its station number is GN29. It is an elevated station with two opposed platforms and two tracks where trains can pass each other; track 1 is laid as a straight through track (speed limit 80 km/h), and rapid trains normally run through on track 1. It is an unstaffed station with a rest area at ground level. On 9 August 2014, heavy rain from Typhoon No. 11 caused the hillside behind the station to collapse and buried the stairway in earth and debris, so when service resumed the following day all trains passed through the station without stopping; the station reopened on 1 September that year. The line's predecessor, the Tosa Electric Railway's Aki Line, also had an Annai Station, at a different location.

Notes

The station mascot, Ananai Nasubi-san, is themed after the eggplant — a specialty of Aki grown under vinyl greenhouses — and its monument stands along the road on the west side of the station.
