History
Akisaizaki Station opened as a terminus on 28 April 1931, when the Railway Ministry's San-Go Line (now the Kure Line) was extended between Suba Station and this station. On 10 July of the following year, 1932, the San-Go Line was extended between this station and Takehara Station, making it an intermediate station, and it became part of the Kure Line under the line-name revision accompanying the full opening of the Mihara–Kaitaichi section on 24 November 1935. Freight handling ended on 1 July 1960, and baggage handling in 1984. It became a JR West station at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, with station number JR-Y29. The ICOCA IC card became usable there from 1 September 2007. It is an unstaffed, at-grade station with two opposing platforms and two tracks, capable of train exchange.
Notes
In ICOCA usage records, the station appears as "Aki Saizaki" (with "Aki" in katakana), to distinguish it from a similarly named station.
