History

Opened on 6 March 2005 as Banpaku Kaijō (Expo Venue) Station, it was Expo 2005's main rail gateway and the closest stop to the Nagakute site's north gate. With the fair over, the south entrance closed on 26 September 2005 and the temporary south building and platforms on 27 September 2005; removal finished in late June 2006 and the permanent station opened on 14 July 2006. The 1 April 2006 rename to Ai・Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen added the subtitle "Aichi Prefectural University-mae" (in front of the nearby campus). Two island platforms serve three tracks at this elevated station, the only staffed intermediate stop on Aichi Rapid Transit's Linimo maglev line; manaca has been accepted since 12 March 2016. Today it serves Moricoro Park, Ghibli Park and the university.

Notes

The platform screen doors on platform 4 hold, at two points, an aerial view of the Expo's Nagakute venue and a shot apparently taken from near platform 4 itself, leaving a trace of the 2005 fair at the platform edge.
