Location

History

Zenkōjishita Station opened as a ground-level station, built by Nagano Electric Railway, on 28 June 1926. It is located at Miwa 7-chōme, Nagano, Nagano Prefecture, and its station number is N4. Freight service ended on 1 September 1970, and parcel service ended on 1 April 1974. As part of continuous grade-separation work between Nagano Station and this station, the level crossing within the station grounds was abolished in March 1977, and the station was converted to an underground station on 1 March 1981. It is an underground station with two facing platforms serving two tracks, with the ticket gates on basement level 1 and the platforms on basement level 2. It lies directly beneath Nagano Ōdōri and has four street-level entrances.

Notes

Although the station name means "Below Zenkō-ji" and the temple is a 10-minute walk away, Zenkō-ji's own website does not list this station as an access point.
