Location
History
Yushima Station opened on 20 December 1969 as a stop on the Teito Rapid Transit Authority's (TRTA) Chiyoda Line, serving the Bunkyō ward neighbourhood near Shinobazu Pond and Ueno Park. The station facilities passed to Tokyo Metro on 1 April 2004 with the privatisation of TRTA. PASMO IC card service began on 18 March 2007, and departure melodies were introduced on 27 October 2018. The underground station has a single island platform serving two tracks. Although planners initially considered making Yushima a transfer point with the future Toei Ōedo Line, no connection was built; the Ōedo Line's Ueno-okachimachi station opened to the east instead.
Notes
At the Ayase end of the station is a siding holding a single train, which can be entered from either running line; a train run in from Ayase the previous day is stabled there overnight and forms the next morning's first service towards Ayase.
