History
Yushima Station was established on 1 February 1944 as the Yushima Signal under the wartime Railway Bureau, and was promoted to a full station on 1 July 1954 on the Tōhoku Main Line in what is now Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture. Parcel handling ended and the station became unattended on 15 August 1971. It transferred to JR East at the 1 April 1987 privatisation, and the station building was rebuilt as a log-cabin-style single-storey structure on 23 January 1998. The 11 March 2011 Tōhoku earthquake damaged the embankment platforms, which were subsequently repaired. The station has two opposed side platforms linked by a footbridge and is managed remotely from Ichinoseki Station.
Notes
The 1998 rebuild gave the station a log-cabin-style wooden single-storey building.
