Location

History

The elevated JR portion of Yūrakuchō Station opened on 25 June 1910 as a Tōkaidō Main Line stop served only by the suburban electric trains that became the Keihin-Tōhoku Line. An air raid on 27 January 1945 destroyed the central ticket gate, killing nine staff and eighty-seven passengers. Operations passed from Japanese National Railways to JR East on 1 April 1987. The Tokyo Metro Yūrakuchō Line subway level opened on 30 October 1974 under the Teito Rapid Transit Authority, and interchange arrangements with the adjoining Hibiya Station began that same day. Suica acceptance began on 18 November 2001 and platform-edge doors were rolled out between 2014 and 2018.

Notes

Passengers connecting to the Keiyō Line at Tokyo Station may officially cover the Yūrakuchō–Tokyo leg on foot: on declaring the intention at the ticket gate, the ticket is marked with a stopover stamp and the passenger is handed a printed transfer note.
