History
Yunokawa-onsen Stop (DY02) is on the Hakodate City Tram Yunokawa Line in Yukawa-chō 1-chōme, Hakodate, Hokkaidō. It opened on 29 June 1913 as Samegawa-bashi Stop, with the section beyond it to Yukawa terminus being single-track. It was renamed Samegawa before 1938, then through Onsen-iriguchi and Yukawa before settling on the present Yunokawa-onsen, and was made the terminus on 2 July 1945 when the Samegawa–Yukawa single track was removed. On 2 September 1959 the Yunokawa-onsen–Yunokawa section was re-laid as a double track, restoring the stop to an intermediate position. Renovation works ran 16 November–22 December 2017 and again 30 October–25 December 2020, widening both platforms, adding 15 m of new platform on the outbound side, and installing LED-illuminated safety fences.
Notes
The 2020 rebuild treated the Yunokawa-bound platform unusually: the existing platform was retained as a walkway with its width unchanged, and a new platform 15.0 m long and widened to between 1.0 and 1.4 m was added alongside it on the Hakodate Arena side, fitted with safety fences containing LED lighting, with road heating laid on part of the platform and its ramp.
