Location
History
Yoshikawa Station opened as a general station between Notobe and Tokuda on the Nanao Railway on 15 June 1901. The Nanao Railway had originally planned to build the station in the Kuroji district of the same village, but after a petition campaign led by local resident Mataroku Kadono and others, and representations made to the Maeda marquis family, the plan was changed to build it in the Yoshikawa district instead. The station was nationalized under the Railway Nationalization Act on 1 July 1907 and became a station of the Imperial Railway Agency. When the postwar station building deteriorated, local residents formed an association to campaign for its reconstruction, and the rebuilding work was completed in January 1956. The station passed to JR West at the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, and became unstaffed all day on 1 April 2021.
Notes
In the effort to attract the station in the 1900s, local volunteers used a blood relation to a steward of the Maeda marquis family to make representations, and as a result construction of a station in the neighboring Kuroji district was halted and the station was built at Yoshikawa instead.
