History

Yoshida Station opened on 25 August 1912 and was renamed Nishi-Yoshida Station on 20 April 1913, reverting to its original name on 1 October 1959. It is the junction of the Yahiko Line, whose starting point at Yahiko lies 4.9 kilometres away, and the Echigo Line, on which the station stands 49.8 kilometres from Kashiwazaki. JR East assumed operations on 1 April 1987 at JNR privatisation. The platform layout consists of one side platform and two island platforms serving five tracks, linked by a footbridge. The station is directly operated by JR East; its Midori no Madoguchi closed on 30 September 2022 and a reserved-seat ticket machine was installed the following day.
