History

Yokogawara Station is the terminus of the Iyo Railway's Yokogawara Line, opening on 4 October 1899 in Yokogawara, Tōon, Ehime Prefecture. Even after electrification, a run-around track, a freight track, and a locomotive-shed siding remained for a time, but they were removed around 1975. In November 2015, reconstruction began on the old station building, which was by then more than 100 years old, and the new building entered service on 5 March of the following year, 2016. In July of that same year, the departure melody was also changed to a new tune, "Rhythm." It is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track, and its station number is IY24.
