History

Yokogawa Station tram stop (Y04) is the terminus of the Hiroden Yokogawa Line, located in the south plaza of JR West's Yokogawa Station in Nishi-ku, Hiroshima. The Yokogawa Line opened on 1 November 1917 with a Yokogawa-ekimae (Yokogawa Station-front) stop near the present site, plus a terminus called Misasa beyond it. Around 1926 Misasa was renamed Yokogawa; the original Yokogawa-ekimae stop closed on 28 July 1941. On 19 July 1951 the track was shortened by 70 m and the stop was moved to a single combined up-and-down platform on the national road east of the Yokogawa-ekimae intersection. It was renamed Yokogawa-eki on 1 November 2001, was relocated to its present position inside the JR south plaza on 27 March 2003, and its station number was changed to Y04 on 3 August 2025.

Notes

Hiroden trams used to terminate on the national road east of the Yokogawa-ekimae intersection; on 27 March 2003 the stop was moved into the south plaza of JR Yokogawa, where trams now stand under a large roof.
