History
Yōgo Station opened on 4 July 1896 as a station of the Nan'yo Railway in Yōgo-naka, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. On 1 May 1900 it became a station of the Iyo Railway following a merger with that company, and it is now designated a key station and transport hub on the Iyo Railway's Gunchū Line. During emergency sectional operations, this station functions as a turn-back point. Large-scale renewal work, including barrier-free improvements and renovation of the station building, began in November 2014 and was brought into service in stages from February to March of the following year, 2015. It is a ground-level, staffed station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks, and trains pass each other here during the morning rush hour. Its station number is IY27.
